Carlside Tarn is a tiny tarn on one of the main paths up Skiddaw, the Allerdale Ramble which leaves the valley floor at Millbeck, some 1900 feet below. Although it is not significant in size, it does have one distinction - it is the only ridge or col tarn on the Skiddaw Slates geological region of Lakeland. Constantly disturbed by the high winds that frequent such a location, it may frequently be found to have dried up.
