Muncaster Tarn is a manmade lake on the western end of Muncaster Fell, possibly made as a fishing lake. Although the track up the fell passes close by the dam at the southern end, the tarn is obscured by rhododendron bushes.

It's not the most interesting of tarns, despite having a few islands. The banks are devoid of any real interest and there's not much elevation in the hills beyond the surrounding trees to give any sort of interesting skyline.
