This is a fairly large valley tarn, more of a lake than a tarn really. Owned by the National Trust, the woodland to the north-west is access land whilst that to the south and east is privately owned. A footpath runs through the woodland whilst a track and footpath contours around the valley side to the south-east. Much of the shore is lined with reedbeds.

Due to the lay of the surrounding land, there are few opportunities to photograph the tarn in its entirety, the best vantage point I've found so far is near the lodge at the entrance to Wray Castle.
