Ghyll Pool is a reservoir which was constructed in 1934 to provide water for James Cropper's paper mill at Burneside.

Although a reservoir, and small, it's not unattractive. It is completely fenced off to keep animals out, but it is possible to get right to the dam and shoot over the abutment, also there are a few vantage points along the western bank - the eastern is on private land with no right of way. It is also visible from further up the hill, on the path between Potter Tarn and Gurnal Dubs.
